Nicola and I chose to take on the stewardship of Tranmere Rovers to ensure that this club, which has been so important to me, survived the crisis it was facing and has a sustainable future. This is a club that is at the heart its community, and it is critical that it remains so.
Our decision was based on the knowledge that there did not appear to be any potential owners coming forward with both the necessary finances and the Club’s best interests at heart. We hope to be at the club for many years to come, and to leave it in a sound financial position and to ensure that it has a long and prosperous future. This is a goal shared by the Tranmere Rovers Supporters Trust, and together we're focused on putting in place the foundations that will ensure that the club is both well funded, and kept out of the wrong hands for generations to come.
It is for this reason that Nicola and I, along with members of the Supporters Trust's Board have agreed to include a legacy to the club in our Wills.
To provide our supporters with an opportunity to leave a similar legacy, we have agreed a deal with the solicitors Kirwans, who will offer a free 'simple' Will to the Club's season ticket holders and shareholders, waiving their usual legal fees. More complex Wills maybe subject to a charge. The offer will initially run through to mid November.
Money raised will be held in trust by the Supporters Trust, kept separate from their members' monies, and only spent when jointly approved by both the Trust's and Club’s Boards. This “double lock” mechanism is designed to give donors the comfort that their donation or legacy will only be used for the benefit of the club and protect against owners that may not have the best interests of the Club at heart.
To take advantage of this offer, Kirwans and the club ask that you:
- make a suggested donation of £60 for a single Will or £110 for a joint Will to the Supporters Trust; and / or
- leave a legacy within your will, as a small percentage of your total estate
Kirwans will host a 'Protect what Matters' legal clinic at the ground on Friday 21st October, where supporters can speak to a legal expert. Alternatively, appointments can be made at any of Kirwan’s offices (Prenton, Moreton, Liverpool and Southport).

We hope you will take advantage of this offer, and help us to deliver a long and prosperous future for our club.
Mark and Nicola
