Newsletter | Oct 2015

With the end of October here is the monthly newsletter to keep you up to date with whats going on at the Trust.

Chairman's update.

Welcome to the October edition of the Trust's newsletter.

We’re now two months into the playing season, and it’s great to see the progress being made both on and off the pitch.  Supporters have now had the opportunity to enjoy the improvements made at the ground, and feedback has been positive throughout.

The Trust’s working relationship with the club continues to go from strength to strength.  The success of the events at the Chester game in bringing together two sets of fans speaks for itself.

As a Trust, we’re now keen to push onto the next level, fulfilling our two goals of helping the club build for a sustainable future, and building financial strength in the Trust, so that we’re ready for future challenges that the club faces.

This month we’re calling on all supporters to join the 500 Club.  We need another 100 members to enable us to support the club and purchase a key piece of medical equipment that will help to reduce injuries and speed up their recovery, see below.  We hope that you can see the value in this.

500 Club

September saw the winner of the 500 Club take home over the £500 for the first time, demonstrating the continued success, in fact the October winner will be going home with £515-00.

The club have asked the Trust whether we would be able to fund a key piece of medical equipment. Called a “Game Ready Machine”. For more informaton, http://www.gameready.co.uk/

This is a critical piece of kit, which can vastly improve recovery times following injuries.  It’s mobile, meaning that players can take it home for use and should mean that the club have more players available, which we’ll clearly benefit from with the current injury problems around the club.

The Trust will fund this once we have taken the membership of the 500 Club from 206 members to 300.  If you would like further details, please visit the 500 Club page or contact  mark_r@tranmereroverstrust.co.uk

Recent 500 Club winners

  • July – Jason Canovas £487-50.

Jason kindly donated his winnings towards the “kids Season Ticket scheme”. See below.

  • August – Howard Barr £495-00
  • September – Mark Fleming £510-00

Kids Season Tickets

It was pleasing to see that in our moment of adversity, following relegation to the National League, there was a huge upsurge of goodwill around the club.  This culminated in the Supporters Club launched an initiative to fund 100 season tickets for kids who couldn’t normally afford to attend.

To support the scheme, we were keen to add to this number, so offered to match fund a further 100 tickets.  To add further to this number, the players at Prenton Park joined the initiative with another 100, bringing a total of 300 extra children’s Season Tickets for this season.

Hundreds of children who would not have had the opportunity to watch live football at Prenton Park have already had the opportunity to attend, with really positive feedback.

Prenton Park upgrade

Following the Trust’s agreement with the club to invest £75,000 over the course of three years, supporters have now had the opportunity to enjoy improvements already made.

The Trust invested £25,000 towards an upgraded tannoy, disabled facilities, replacement seats, season ticket marketing and a new scoreboard.

We’re keen to receive your feedback on how you’ve found these upgrades, and suggestions for how you’d like to see the next round of money invested in 2016.

Johnny King statue - 4th name plaque

The opportunity for supporters to add their name to the Johnny King statue, through a 4th name plaque has now closed, with a further 168 names to be added.  This brings the total to approximately 700 names and demonstrates how well supporters have taken to the statue.

This is the final plaque that we intend to add to the statue, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all supporters who have helped to make this happen.

Trust merchandise

We continue to increase the range of Trust merchandise available for sale at the club shop.  We’ve now launched a range of Belmont clothing, include men’s cashmere scarves.

Share issue

As communicated to all Trust members previously, we are now working to issue shares in Tranmere Rovers Football Club, for all members who applied for them.  Our intention is to distribute these shares at a Trust meeting on 21st of November in advance of the Guiseley fixture, we will be in touch before the 21st with further details. For those unable to attend, share certificates will be posted.

Future plans

Following the success of the beer festival in November last year, we’re currently planning for a second event in May of this year.  This event will be run in partnership with CAMRA and we hope to be able to share more details in due course.

We are also looking to hold further events, although we can’t say too much at present.

All the best
